Environment Concept Early art + Process - Mangrove Village
The Bakkowan village is in a giant mangrove forest. The Bakkowan Villagers live life in harmony with nature. Their architecture is meant to disturb the existing land as little as possible. They achieve this by suspending their roads and homes on stilts and using natural forms to weave through and around the network of roots and trunks of the giant mangrove trees. Motifs of building philosophies as well as shape design are inspired by real life Polynesian and South East Asian building practices.
